Monochromatic Mustard

Whenever I am planning to go on vacation I try not to arbitrarily throw clothing items in my suitcase. I try to plan my outfits and actually shop with the intention of finding specific items. When I started shopping for my honeymoon in Santorini I knew I wanted outfits that were bright in colour and cheerful. Let’s be honest, which colour is brighter or more cheerful than the colour yellow?

I wanted outfits that were not only cute, but outfits that would pop against the whitewashed homes in Santorini. I also did my research so I knew the weather was going to be perfect for resort wear and like most Caribbean girls I live resort wear. So of course I was excited about planning my outfits.  What says resort wear more than a nice maxi skirt?

I looked high and low for an easy breezy, high waisted, twirl in the wind fabulous maxi skirt, but for the life of me I could not find the perfect skirt. Then one day I was in Pings in Half Way Tree and there it was, the perfect fabric! The colour was unique, the fabric was airy and it had a slight sheen. It was exactly what I was looking for. Then it hit me, just get someone to make the skirt. Of course it didn’t take me too long to find a dressmaker in Kingston and lucky for me, she works fast. Lesson, do not sleep on your local fabric store or dressmaker- they might just be able to create magic!

I paired the skirt with an interesting lace off the shoulder top that I bought from one of my favourite online stores, missguided. I also could not resist wearing my ‘wifey’ handbag, it complimented  the outfit perfectly, and after all I was on my honeymoon.
