I love plants as decor pieces around my apartment. I think they add the perfect pop of vibrant green and freshness to any space. I generally use large indoor plants in my apartment, but lately I have been obsessed with succulents. There are so many different types and colours which can add the perfect touch to any space in the home. They are so versatile as decor pieces. Most importantly, although they may appear to be small and delicate, don’t let that fool you. They are strong and can survive in the harsh Jamaican heat – which is a major plus for me because that means they are generally low maintenance plants.
You can also find different types of succulents at almost any plant nursery around Kingston and they are also inexpensive. Each of my succulents shown cost between $300 – $400. However, if you are going to use the plants as indoor decor pieces I would recommend getting a nice container for them. The mini succulent set I placed my succulents in I bought on Amazon here. You can however use any cute ceramic cup or dish that you have around the house.
I have seen succulents styled in many different creative ways and also incorporated in different ways as home decor pieces. Here are a few of my favourite ways to incorporate succulents in my home decor.
I also want to share with you guys a few ways that I have been caring for my succulents over the past two months.
- I do not over water the plants. I water my plants once every two weeks, which I have found to be sufficient;
- I keep my plants in a room that gets a lot of sunlight, without getting the direct impact of the sunlight; and
- I get rid of the dead leaves.
I hope this post convinced some of you to get some succulents to add to your home decor. If you are someone that generally shy away from indoor plants because they can be hard to keep alive I think you should try out succulents and see how it goes.
Until next time guys…bye!
